Charlie's wife Sheila sent me his obituary . . . a long time ago and I never did anything with it. I'm going to look for it and the other papers she sent me and post them. Sheila, if you read this before I can put my hands on them, I'm sorry I didn't get to it sooner.
Charlie was a good friend, and we crossed paths from time to time in Texas, Colorado, Alaska, and via Christmas cards. Good guy! Married the right girl, too!
AT KHS, we had computerized (punch cards) attendance records, and if you were tardy, it was the same if 10 seconds or 2 hours late. Charlie and I often rode to school together, in his classic Triumph TR2 or my Impalla SS396. Anyhow, sometimes on pulling into the KHS parking lot, it was apparent we were gonna be late. So, since we were gonna get dinged for tardiness anyhow, sometimes it just seemed like the right thing to cruise on over to Hobgoods for PBR & then check the surf at the beach, then roll into class around 10. Sugar Bear the Vice Principal never seemed to mind much, and our parents never got wind of it.
Charlie, Sheila, and others from KHS have never been far from my thoughts, 40 years notwithstanding. I'm truly sorry for his passing, and hope his family is doing well.
